The Actors
The actors
There is a large crowd in the city. Women and girls are in the crowd. Old men and young men are also in the crowd. The slaves do not work today; the old men do not sleep today. The merchants are not busy today. The Pompeians are idle. However, the city is not quiet. The Pompeians hurry to the theatre. There is a great shout in the city. The farmers enter the city. The sailors head for the city. The shepherds come down from the mountain and hurry to the city. The crowd rushes through the gate. A messenger shouts in the forum: “The actors are in the city. The actors are in the theatre. Priscus is putting on a play. Priscus is putting on an excellent play; the actors are Actius and Sorex.”
Caecilius and Metella leave the house. The banker and his wife walk to the theatre. Quintus and Lucia hurry to the theatre. Clemens and Melissa run to the theatre. But Grumio stays in the house.
