Lucia and Alexander

Lucia and Alexander

Lucia and Melissa are walking near the palestra. Lucia sees Alexander.

Lucia: “Melissa, look! That young man is Alexander.”

Melissa: “Who is Alexander?”

Lucia: “Alexander is a Greek youth. Theodorus teaches Alexander and Quintus in the palestra every day. Quintus and Alexander are the best of friends.”

Melissa: “How handsome Alexander is!”

Lucia: “Alexander is very clever. Yesterday, Alexander explained the best argument to the teacher and his friends.”

Melissa: “Quintus is clever too.”

Lucia: “Alexander is cleverer than Quintus. We Romans are not always better than the Greeks.”

Melissa: “Does Alexander please you?”

Lucia: “Not at all! How silly you are, Melissa!” (Lucia blushes.)
