In the Changing Room

In the Changing Room

In the changing room, two servants are standing. The servants are Sceledrus and Anthrax.

Sceledrus: “Why are you not working, Anthrax? Are you sleeping?”
Anthrax: “What are you saying? I am working diligently; I am guarding the togas for the citizens.”
Sceledrus: “You are guarding the togas? You are a liar!”
Anthrax: “Why are you scolding me? I am not a liar. I am guarding the togas.”
Sceledrus: “I scold you because there is a thief in the changing room, but you are doing nothing.”
Anthrax: “Where is the thief? I do not see the thief.”
Sceledrus: “Look! That man is the thief. I easily recognize the thief.” (Sceledrus points out the thief to Anthrax. The thief takes off his toga and puts on a splendid toga. The servants immediately run to the thief.)
Anthrax: “What are you doing? Scoundrel! That toga is not yours!”
Thief: “You are the liar! It is my toga! Go away!”
Sceledrus: “I recognize you! You are poor, but you wear a splendid toga.”

(A merchant enters. He is looking for his toga in vain.)
Merchant: “Alas! Where is my toga? The toga has vanished!” (The merchant looks around.) “Look! That thief is wearing my toga! Spare me! Spare me! I am very poor... my wife is sick... I have ten children.”

(The merchant does not listen to the thief but drags him to the judge.)
