In the Theatre

In the Theater

Today the Pompeians are on holiday in the theatre. Many Pompeians sit in the theatre. The spectators do not make a noise. The spectators wait for Actius. Hooray! At last, Actius stands on the stage. The Pompeians applaud. Actius performs the play on the stage. The play is funny. The young men laugh and praise Actius. The old men do not sleep. The old men also praise Actius. But the boys and girls are frightened. Actius is a character.

Suddenly, the Pompeians hear a great shout. A messenger enters the theatre. “The tightrope walker! The tightrope walker is here!” shouts the messenger. “The tightrope walker is Prudens!” The Pompeians do not watch Actius. All the Pompeians run out of the theatre and watch Prudens. No one remains in the theatre. However, Actius is not angry. Actius also watches the tightrope walker.
