Sad Melissa

Melissa is Sad

Melissa was busy. Clemens entered the dining room, where Melissa was working. Melissa was sad. “Why are you sad, Melissa?” asked Clemens. However, Melissa did not respond. She was almost crying. Clemens left the dining room and hurried to the kitchen, where Grumio was working. “I am worried,” said Clemens. “Melissa is sad.” After leaving the kitchen, Grumio and Clemens entered the dining room. They saw Melissa; oh no! Melissa was crying. “Melissa, why are you crying?” asked the cook. “I cry because I am alone,” replied Melissa. Then Melissa told the story: “My mother had a shop in Greece. A very bad man once entered the shop. My mother was busy, and the man was watching me intently. Suddenly, the man took my hand and quickly led me out of the shop.” “And your mother?” asked Grumio. “What did she do?” “She saw nothing,” replied Melissa, “because there was a great crowd in the shop. The man dragged me to the port. There he sold me. Therefore, I am a lonely slave.” Grumio was very moved. “Perhaps you are a slave,” said the cook, “but you are not alone, because you have a friend.” Clemens looked at Grumio and said, “Yes, indeed! Hercules is here!”
